Sonar Legal is the most innovative Microsoft Word add-in designed exclusively for legal professionals. While the majority of our functionality runs locally on your device, ensuring that you remain in complete control of your core data, certain advanced features require a secure, real-time transmission of your selected text or prompt to trusted third-party Large Language Model (LLM) providers. These transmissions occur only when you explicitly initiate a request.

Our add-in leverages the power of advanced LLMs from providers such as Microsoft Azure, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Vertex AI to help you draft, summarize, and analyze legal documents with exceptional accuracy and efficiency.

Data Handling​

At Sonar Legal, we operate solely as a pass-through service. This means that we do not store or reuse any of your data beyond the moment it is needed to generate a response. Our practices ensure that your confidential information is handled with the utmost care:

Ephemeral Data Transmission​

  • Transient Requests: Your input (whether it’s selected document text or a drafting prompt) is sent only to generate the specific response you have requested. Once the response is returned, the data is immediately discarded.

  • No Persistent Storage: Since Sonar Legal does not develop its own proprietary models, we have no interest in retaining your data. We do not maintain any databases or caches for storing your confidential information; each request is processed independently without any archiving of your prompts or generated content.

Isolated & Controlled Processing​

  • User-Controlled Submission: Only the data you explicitly choose to send is transmitted, and each request is handled in isolation. This ensures that your information is never combined with or used in another user’s request.

  • No Data Reuse: The text you send is used solely for generating your response and is not repurposed for training, fine-tuning, or any future improvements by either our platform or our third-party LLM providers.

LLM Providers​

Trusted LLM providers guarantee that data processed through their APIs is used exclusively for generating the response you request. This means:

  • Your confidential legal data remains private.
  • It is not retained or stored after processing.
  • It is never used to train or improve the underlying models.
