Installation

The Sonar Legal Add-in is a Microsoft Word integration that delivers AI-powered legal document analysis and drafting tools right inside your workflow. This add-in helps legal professionals streamline review processes, enhance contract intelligence, and enforce consistency across legal documentation.

You can add the Sonar Legal add-in to your Word client by clicking this link:

If the link doesn’t work, you can also install it manually:

  1. Open Word.
  2. Go to Insert → Add-ins → Store.
  3. Search for “Sonar Legal”.
  4. Click Add to install.

Manifest File Installation​

If you want to roll out Sonar Legal across your entire organization, add the manifest file to your Microsoft 365 environment. Once you have the .xml manifest (provided by our team), follow these steps:

  1. Log on to Microsoft 365 Admin Center
    Sign in at https://admin.microsoft.com using an administrator account.

  2. Navigate to Integrated Apps
    In the left-hand menu, select Settings → Integrated apps, then switch to the Add-ins tab.

  3. Begin Deployment
    Click Deploy Add-in at the top of the pane and then click Next in the dialog.

  4. Upload Custom App

    • Choose Upload custom apps.
    • Select I have the manifest file (.xml) on this device, then click Choose File.
    • Locate and select the Sonar Legal manifest .xml, then click Open → Upload.

  5. Configure Deployment
    In the Configure add-in window, pick the users or groups who should have access, then click Deploy.

  6. Verify Installation
    After deployment completes, you’ll see a confirmation message. Your selected users/groups can now launch Sonar Legal from Word’s Add-ins pane.

      • Office 2024 (retail and volume-licensed)
      • Office 2021 (retail and volume-licensed)
      • Office 2019 (retail only)
      • Office 2016 (retail only)

Unsupported Versions: Unfortunately, Office 2019 and Office 2016 in their volume-licensed forms are not compatible with Sonar Legal because they lack support for WebView2, the modern browser technology required by all modern Office add-ins. This is a universal limitation that affects all Office add-ins on the market. If you attempt to run Sonar Legal on an unsupported version, the add-in will remain stuck on the Loading screen. Consider updating to a supported version of Word.
